Cylinder Removal FOD Cover for Big Bore Continental Engines

These covers provide superior FOD protection for the crankcase when cylinders must be removed for repair or replacement. Each set comes with a pair of these FOD covers, designed and tested to fit all Continental 470, 520, 550 series engines. Their unique shape allows clearance of “7th stud” installations as well as engine mounts. The connecting rod is fully supported through its full travel, making maintenance on other parts of the engine easier after a cylinder has been removed. The screw-in plug at the end allows the technician to verify connecting rod position is at TDC before carefully removing the FOD cover to avoid dropping the connecting rod.

NOTE: The picture of the cover installed was on an IO-470 and was a prototype, thus the top hole and threaded plug are not shown. 

NOTE: The extra cover included for the tappet/lifter housings may not fit for 520 and 550 series engines.
